Owen recently enjoyed his first camping/hunting trip (11.2,3,&4.2007). He traveled to east Texas with Daddy to meet "Bud", Uncle David, Mr. Joe (David's dad), and Mr. Blake (David's brother) for a true outdoor adventure.
It has been reported that Owen watched the four-wheelers like a hawk and whenever someone made a motion toward them, he would politely invite himself along by saying something like: "Where you goin'?" and flashing a big smile. As you can imagine, he wasn't left behind very often.
Zach took Owen "hunting" and sat in a blind with him for a while. Owen was, no doubt, very excited and intrigued by being in the outdoors with daddy and becoming a "hunter man".
Owen reportedly got to shoot the "big pow-pow dun" "all by himself" and daddy only held it "little bitty".
Uncle David was the only one to slay an animal on this adventure. He had shot, killed and strung up a deer to prepare for the gutting process by the time Owen and Zach rode in on the four-wheeler to help. Zach was a bit apprehensive of Owen's pending response to the site of his first dead animal, but after hopping off of the four-wheeler and inspecting the entire site, Owen announced "dood job Uncle David, that's a dood job!".
Owen also enjoyed just hangin' out around camp with the guys. He really liked eating meals outside and learning new "ball player" tricks from Mr. Blake.
All in all a wonderful experience, and he is already talking about how he and Clay will go back next year.

The pictures are adorable! Especially the one of Zach and Owen walking down the trail! Ahh...that tugged on my heartstrings! From what I hear, Owen MADE the hunting trip the best ever! Love- Mary Kay
