For all of y'all out there that think I can do no wrong (if there are any of you), sorry...I am about to knock myself down a notch or two. I received my first speeding ticket recently while traveling to visit family in Lubbock. Evidently, Lubbock has a "zero tolerance" campaign going on right now and they have no reservations about flipping on their lights and tracking you down, even for going a few miles over the speed limit while you're in the process of passing someone so that you can get out of the "fast lane" where people are angrily piling up on your rear end because you're going too slow, and while the policeman is pursuing you three other cars might pull over on the shoulder to admit their law breaking guilt, but the policeman will not be deterred by those who were blatantly breaking the law, nooo...he will track you down just to let you know that Lubbock has a "zero tolerance" campaign going on right now and they're not going to put up with "ANYONE" who goes even a few miles over the speed limit in their town. And F.Y.I don't even think about contesting it because it will cost more in court fees and gas money to get yourself back to Lubbock for a court date (that very likely could be canceled or rescheduled up until the time of the hearing) than it would just to pay the ticket outright. "Luckily", I have never had a ticket before, so they gave me two options: 1. Defensive driving + fine + record filing fees or 2. "DEFERRED" which means you pay a fee that is only a bit more than #1 ads up to, then don't get a ticket again for 90 days and they take it off of your record. Of course, I opted for #2, "Deferred" because hey, my time was worth the extra $20! Anyway, the greatest twist in the story is that somehow things got a bit delayed or mixed up in the mail, so after I got the receipt in the mail for paying my ticket I ended up getting a
WARRANT NOTIFICATION!

Yeah,...I was a wanted woman in Lubbock, Texas! During my call to confirm that this was just a mistake on the part of the city of Lubbock the employee of the Lubbock municipal court was very apologetic and told me to disregard the warrant and just throw it away. I laughed and informed her that "I have 3 sons that someday will get a kick out of their mommy being wanted by the law, so I just might frame it!".
I don't believe she had ever had that reaction from anyone before.

Hilarious! Thanks for the laugh! I'd like to hear your excuse for going 72 in a 60...? :) Just kidding. The fastest I've gone and gotten caught was 83 in a 70, but that was right after PASSING, so how UNFAIR was that highway patrolman. Not fair at all. How else are you going to pass on a two-lane undivided highway than obviously go a little faster than the car you are passing. Hello. Can you tell I am still bitter? But seriously, this happened in 1998 on my way to my ex-boyfriends HSU football game in Brownwood. But Aaron likes to say God allowed it to happen because I was stupid enough to be dating this particular guy. Anyway, that's enough about that! :)
That's so funny!! I never knew we had a criminal in the family! :)
Oh no...my daughter in law is a fugitive! I better come get the boys! :) You are so funny...I loved your response to the court clerk...I pretty sure that is not a response she hears either!
