We enjoyed the drive up over Cumbres pass once again, and this time continued over the other side into Colorado. We traveled all the way to Antonito, Co. before turning around and heading back toward the pass.
A stop was made at the Red Bear restaurant (in the middle of nowhere) for lunch. Meg dropped the car keys through the massive deck off the front of the restaurant and the kind owner crawled underneath to get them (notice Zach holding up the car keys in the picture):
We then detoured off of the main road in search of a trail head that we had been told would lead to a beautiful waterfall.
We hoped the waterfall would be a good activity to share with our friends the MacDonald family who were on their way to Chama and would be joining us for the remainder of the week.
We found the trail head and enjoyed some lazy moments by the river near by. The boys would be content to throw rocks into the water for hours on end. Owen (after closely watching daddy) has been working on his own rock skipping technique.
Back at our campsite we once again enjoyed a good nap. Then the Knight family cooked dinner for the MacDonald family who were glad to arrive to a hot (prepared) meal after a long day of car travel.
