Zoo Trip -Finally!

After being forced to reschedule several times because of all the unseasonal rain we have been blessed with, we finally went to the zoo today. The boys and I met our friends the Gumm's there for some "monkeying" around. We bought our first membership to the Abilene zoo with hopes of making this outing a permanent fixture on our schedule of activities (weather permitting, of course). Owen had not been to the zoo since last summer, so he was quite intrigued by every detail.

Lions, Ducks and
Flamingos,
OH MY!
Owen couldn't believe that all of the animals we had talked about prior to our adventure were actually there!

The entire crew of monkeys a.k.a. Owen, John Paul, Emily and Lauren (minus Clay who was hangin' out in his stroller) admiring the other monkeys in the zoo.

John Paul and Emily were the only ones brave enough to touch the snake! Yikes!

We finished our outing to the zoo by playing on the playground and enjoying a picnic. The weather was beautiful. It is unseasonably cool and wet here this year. Which, for a momma with an active internal heater, the weather has been great! Although, we are going through bottles of mosquito repellent and I completely forgot to put sunscreen on Owen and myself today, I guess I'm just out of practice with that stuff. Oh well, it was a wonderful adventure and such a blessing to be out of doors for a while.
